Spinner Dolphins

"Spinner Dolphins" is a captivating documentary that explores the graceful inhabitants of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago in Brazil. Every morning, around 800 spinner dolphins gather in the Dolphin Bay, showcasing breathtaking jumps and spins. Independent researchers study their behavior, striving to balance species preservation with the growing impact of human activities.
Orcas and other dolphins are highly intelligent and social animals. Every day, thanks to science and experience, we become increasingly aware of how cruel it is to keep them in concrete tanks for profit, forcing them to perform tricks and entertain audiences. However, more and more people around the world are standing up to protect them from human cruelty and captivity.

Let’s take a look at how dolphins live in their natural habitat.
dolphins and humans
Set out on a journey that brings marine mammals closer than any documentary before. No other creature of the sea is so similar to humans like the dolphin. They are compassionate, curious, and full of life.
Adopted by Dolphins, Flipper's Family Secrets - Go Wild
Follows a special group of researchers who are accepted as companions by a big population of bottlenose dolphins in the Red Sea. With a unique style of diving, Swiss biologist Angela Ziltener and dive base operator Michael Stadermann are capable of accompanying the animals for hours and days. While dolphin research usually takes place topside, Angela and Michael for the very first time watch the wild dolphins' behaviour from a dolphin's perspective. Willingly, the animals expose their social behaviour and their games, their exciting love life, kidnapping of females and even the use of medical substances provided by corals.

DOLPHIN BOOKS

by Fabienne Delfour

In the skin of a dolphin:
Intelligence, emotions, culture

“There they are! They rise gently towards me, breaking away from the sandy bottom, then approach, almost brushing against me. Immersed in the warm turquoise waters, I hold my breath as our eyes meet. We often have a romantic image of dolphins, conforming to the clichés distilled from films and TV series. However, these strangely familiar social mammals reveal themselves to be singular beings when you put yourself in their shoes, as suggested by the author, one of the few French cetologists. Judge for yourself: they set up fish traps, have names by which they call each other, form alliances, are outstanding acousticians, grieve and even practice sex education! Intelligence, emotions, culture, communication, learning: it's time to approach dolphins in the first person and understand their world. A salutary book for rethinking our relationship with living beings and finding our rightful place in it.
